Nic Tartaglia Wines: The family farm is located in the charming village of Alanno, nestled in the county of Pescara, Italy, at an elevation of 1150 feet above sea level. They are conveniently located between the Adriatic Sea and the majestic peaks of the Apennine range, including the Gran Sasso d’Italia and the Majella mountains, all within a half-hour drive.
Historically, this region has been renowned for its vineyards, transitioning from the traditional alberello (small trees) training system to the pergola abruzzese in the 1970s. The winters are characterized by harsh conditions with abundant snowfall, while summers are cool and sunny. The area receives significant rainfall and is often windy.
These distinctive climatic conditions, combined with the diverse terroir of clay and limestone soils, create an ideal environment for cultivating grapes with intense aromas, vibrant colors, and high sugar levels. The unique microclimate, coupled with our selection of both indigenous and international grape varieties, imparts exceptional aromas, flavors, alcohol content, brilliance, and nuances to our wines, resulting in unmistakable and high-quality products.
Our vineyards span approximately 12 hectares, where we cultivate indigenous varieties such as Montepulciano, Trebbiano Abruzzese, and Pecorino, alongside international varieties like Chardonnay, Cabernet, and Riesling. Our wines are designated as DOC, sottozona Casauria (soon to be DOCG), and IGT, depending on the specific type.
